The State of the County!
At my first meeting as your County Board member, we voted to have a State of the County night meeting. This meeting will be held on November 12, 2019 at the Kankakee Public Library 201 East Merchant, Kankakee, IL. 5:30-8 PM. I hope to see you there!!
RIVER UPDATE:
Today State Representative Nick Smith came down to see the sand issue we are having here in the Kankakee River Basin. We showed Mr. Smith the State line bridge with all the sand build up and tree build up. We then went to the boat launch by the KCC campus and toured the river thru there. Also, Chairman Andrew Wheeler has been to DC talking to Congress about this issue. At yesterday's Kankakee River and Yellow River Basin Commission meting in Walkerton, IN, they opened up the bids to remove this log jam at the state line bridge. It's important to know that this emergency was acted upon by Lake and Newton County in the matter of a couple of weeks, and that Lake County is paying for the $20k removal project. This is evidence of a commitment to work with Illinois and Kankakee County on our river system.
The link below is from Tuesday's Executive meeting. Chairman Wheeler explains what Indiana's plan are for this emergency declaration.

Again, I would like to thank Representative Nick Smith, fellow County Board member John P. Fetherling Sr., Chairman Andrew Wheeler and Curt Ralston for shedding light on this serious issue. I will continue to work with everyone mentioned above and I hope bring this to the attention to other public officials in the coming weeks.
Welcome!!
